A native of the Pacific Northwest, Ms. Brown grew up in Seattle and attended the University of Washington and Seattle University School of Law (formerly University of Puget Sound School of Law).
Ms. Brown has a long-standing commitment to community service, most especially to the welfare of disadvantaged children. She served for 10 years as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) in King County Superior Court, and is a long-time member of the Board of Directors of Treehouse, an agency dedicated to improving the lives and outcomes of children in foster care throughout King County.
Together with her husband, Seattle attorney Mike Reiss, Ms. Brown served as a mentor at Seattle's Cleveland High School for four years through Community for Youth/Steps Ahead.
Shelly and Mike travel whenever they can, and have bicycled throughout much of Europe and New Zealand. At home, they take great pleasure in a host of friends and extended family.
